This year Daughters of the King maintained a presence at the Convention of the Diocese of Olympia. We had a prayer corner that was highly visible and accessible to the attendees just outside the convention hall. We enjoyed letting folks know that the Convention was being covered in prayer not only by our presence in the convention center but also by many prayer warriors who were praying virtually. Many registered there virtual presence via a 24-7 virtual prayer signup.
In addition to the prayer corner we also “personed” a table in the exhibit hall where various materials regarding Daughters were available as well as single week anglican prayer beads in the form of a keyring.
“Traffic” at the table was pretty constant when the convention was not actively in session. I was amazed in a good way but also concerned. Several times people told me they knew nothing about Daughters. Asked their church it was concerning for their church to be one where there ARE Daughters! More fun were the priests who told me they loved Daughters and wished they had Daughters at their church! HOORAY! Both are places we need some work: in the one case to spread the news that we DO have a presence in the church and in the other to help get something started!
We collected some good contacts and I have already heard from some who took one of the keychains with our email address.
